Santee Cooper is getting repeated reports of scammers calling its customers over the past few days. In this recent scam, the callers are often asking customers to purchase a gift card and provide the information for an immediate payment.

Santee Cooper customers would get an overdue notice on their bill if they were running behind on payment.

“We would never ask customers to buy a gift card and give us the numbers. Please do not give these scammers any financial or personal information,” said Mike Poston, vice president of retail operations.
