Logan Young and Andrew Kwasny have been elected Clemson University Student Government (CUSG) president and vice president, respectively. Ashley Girvin, a junior, was elected president of the undergraduate student senate. The inauguration of the new leaders will take place on Thursday, April 11.

“We had a record 8,633 votes cast during the election process,” said Chris Miller, associate vice president and dean of students. “Congratulations to Logan, Andrew and Ashley on these incredible honors. We look forward to building a great relationship with them and offering counsel on matters important to our students.”

Young, from Greenville, is a junior nursing major and brings extensive experience in student government. She served as vice president during the 2018-19 academic year alongside President Mason Foley. While at Riverside High School, she served as state president of the South Carolina Association of Student Councils, overseeing all high schools and middle schools in the state.

“Serving in an executive role this past year really gave me a great perspective of how the university works and what matters to our students,” Young said. “Mason has been a great leader, friend and mentor. He’s taught me all the right steps in how to seamlessly transition into the president’s role.”

Young and Kwasny outlasted four other tickets during the election process. Their campaign, managed by Austin Simpson, was labeled “Uproar” and centered on three factors to the university: school spirit, academics and community.

Kwasny is an industrial engineering major and sophomore from Chagrin Falls, Ohio.

“I am super excited to be in the position as VP-elect,” Kwasny said. “I’m really looking forward to working with Logan and continuing to build off the great work done by the previous administration, where our major focus will be advocating for all students.”

Girvin, also from Greenville, is a health science major in the midst of her fourth term as a senator. This year, she has chaired the university services committee on matters related to commercial services and campus technology.

“It’s an exciting year ahead, and I really look forward to working with Andrew,” Girvin said. “I’ve worked with Logan for a year now, which has been great. We look forward to working with the university administration, having conversations early and ahead of time and fostering great relationships with campus partners.”
