USC Upstate Hires John Fray as Associate Athletic Director of Development

The University of South Carolina Upstate is pleased to announce it has hired John Fray as its associate athletic director of development. In this role, Fray will be responsible for the oversight of fundraising for USC Upstate Athletics.
“Having a professional fundraiser of John’s caliber join our team will enhance our development efforts and help us reach new heights for Spartan Athletics,” said Meredith Brunen, vice chancellor for University Advancement and executive director of the USC Upstate Foundation. “He brings with him a proven track record of success, and we look forward to seeing him continue to excel here at USC Upstate.”
Prior to joining USC Upstate, Fray served for three years as the director of development at Arkansas State University. While serving in that role, Fray worked with faculty and staff to develop and implement a strategic plan to raise funds for Arkansas State’s College of Agriculture, Engineering, and Technology.
Fray cut his teeth at Arkansas State serving as an interim general manager and later a general manager in the university’s athletics department. He worked with businesses to offer sponsorship opportunities that included radio, television, venue signage and other marketing opportunities. He was also responsible for business development, management, and execution of a $1.4 million fiscal year sales goal.
